Starting April 1, 2015, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will no longer entertain walk-ins. With the NBI Online Application process is now fully implemented, you do not have to wait in long lines for many hours anymore.
NBI clearance, which certifies a person’s criminal record and is required for employment, identification and certain government services. It is valid for one year.
If you are a new applicant or planning to renew your NBI Clearance and you do not have any idea how to do it, here are the steps of how to get an NBI clearance through online application in the Philippines.
New NBI Clearance Online Application Guide
A. ONLINE REGISTRATION APPOINTMENT AND e-PAYMENT
1) Aside from personal computers, you can also access the website via smartphone. The registration and appointment system for the NBI clearance will all be done online nationwide. Visit the website of the NBI Clearance Online Application at www.doj.gov.ph/nbi, www.nbi.gov.ph, and clearance.nbi.gov.ph.
2) For users who have previously registered online, enter your previously registered email address and password. For new users, fill out the form to register. Only one valid email account per user/applicant is allowed.
3) After saving your information, click on the APPLY FOR CLEARANCE button to continue
4) Indicate application type: new application or renewal for those with 2014 NBI clearance certificates. Note: For new applicants, enter your valid ID. For renewal, enter the NBI ID number on your old NBI certificate.
5) You will be asked to schedule your personal appearance at any NBI center. Select your preferred NBI branch, date, and time of appointment. Shaded boxes indicate vacant slots.
6) Fill out the PAYMENT INFORMATION section by indicating the purpose of your application and choosing your method of payment.
7) To verify the status of your application, you may click on the Transaction button found at the left side of the pane. Check your email for payment confirmation or click on Confirm Payment found at the Status column of the Transactions window. You may also click on the Payment Instruction found at the Message column of the Transactions window for further instructions.
8) After completion, you should tick the box for “I Accept Term of Service” and the “Sign up” button should be clicked. A window will appear, and you must press the “I Agree” button.
9) You are now done and ready to appear on your preferred appointment schedule for the capture of your fingerprint biometrics and photographs.
10) Applicants can pay the processing fee via online banking; over-the-counter bank payment; over-the-counter non-bank payment like Bayad Center, LBC, and Robinsons Department Stores; ATM and debit cards; and mobile payment systems.
B. PHOTO AND FINGERPRINT CAPTURE
1) After registration at the NBI clearance website, an applicant will be given a registration code or reference number, which will serve as the gate pass to NBI clearance centers, where applicants will undergo the second step of having their photo and biometrics taken through 72 NBI clearance processing centers.
Print your NBI Clearance Application Reference Code from the website. If you do not have a printed form, just make sure that you have copied the Registration Code, so you can show it to appropriate NBI personnel.
2) Bring two (2) valid ID like school ID, driver's license or postal ID.
3) Wear proper attire according to the dress code implemented at the NBI Clearance branches.
4) When you are at the NBI office, ask directions on where to go for the photo and fingerprint capture.
C. CLEARANCE PRINTING
1) The last step would be to go to the printing area to get your accomplished NBI Clearance.
